Our dedicated team is committed to the public safety of our residents. It's a privilege to serve our community.
A Medication Drop Box is available to residents of Red River Parish to assist in the safe removal (and eventual legal destruction) of outdated medications from their homes. The box is located in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office and is accessible M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
All pharmaceutical drugs that are being disposed of need to be in a sealed container such as the original bottle or a zip-lock bag. They cannot be disposed of loosely. Information/labels identifying the contents should remain in place. Personal information should be marked out with a permanent marker.
Sheriff Edwards encourages citizens to take advantage of this program to help make our community a safer place for our families.
Items that are acceptable to place in the drop box are: prescription & over-the-counter solid medications, tablets & capsules, liquid medications & medical creams/ointments in original container, prescription patches, vitamins, nasal sprays, and pet medicines.
Items not accepted are: intravenous solutions, injectables, syringes, needles, hydrogen peroxide, compressed cylinders or aerosols such as asthma inhalers, iodine-containing medications, thermometers, alcohol and illicit/illegal drugs.
